Ingredients for chocolate chip cookie dough

  • All Purpose Flour: Flour will need to be heat treated in the oven to kill bacteria. *see notes below*
  • White and Brown Sugar: The combination of white and brown sugar gives this cookie dough the perfect flavor.
  • Unsalted Butter: Using unsalted butter will allow you to control the salt content in your recipes.
  • Vanilla: Use pure vanilla or vanilla extract.
  • Milk: Milk is used to keep the cookie dough moist. Water or almond milk also work well.
  • Salt: By adding salt you will bring out the sweet flavors in the cookie dough.
  • Chocolate Chips: I prefer the mini chocolate chips, but regular will also work.

*for funfetti sugar cookie dough you will also need almond extract and sprinkles. For the peanut butter cookie dough you will also need peanut butter and Reese’s pieces. Omit the mini chocolate chips for these recipes.

  • Cream butter, sugar , and salt: In a medium size mixing bowl mix butter, sugar, and salt with a hand mixer until it becomes light and fluffy.
  • Mix in liquid: Add milk and vanilla and continue to mix until combined.
  • Add heat treated flour: Next, add heat treated flour and mix until just combined.
  • Mix in Chocolate: Add chocolate chips and mix well with a spoon.
  • Serve: Serve edible cookie dough immediately, or cover and store in the fridge for 6-7 days.

How long does edible cookie dough last?

Edible cookie can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days! Or place in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw when ready to eat.

Do I have to heat treat flour?

The purpose of heat treating the flour is to reduce the build up of pathogens that can build up in flour during it’s shelf life and makes it safe to eat in no-bake recipes. Simply spread flour onto a large baking sheet and place in a preheated 350F oven for 7 minutes or until the temperature reaches 160F with a temperature. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
